Product Rave: Aromatherapy Associates Miniature Bath Oils

I put these oils on my birthday wishlist and was super lucky to receive them from my parents this year. I've really wanted to try something from Arometherapy Associates but didn't want to splash out not knowing whether or not I liked the products. The miniture set is perfect for trying out the oils and I think more brands should do something like this!

So, on to the oils....

Relax Deep - vetivert, camomile and sandlewood. Lovely after a long stressful day or if you need a good nights sleep. It really helped me to relax but I don't like the scent as much as Relax Light. Does what it says on the tin.

Relax Light - lavender, ylang ylang and petitgrain. This one is one of my favourite scents and really helps me to sleep. Definitely one that I'm going to repurchase.

De-Stress Mind - frankincense, petitgrain,  wild camomile and rosemary. This would be a lovely one to keep by your desk at work to inhale if you're feeling stressed. I LOVE the scent of this one! Can't get enough!

De-Stress MuscleRosemary, black pepper, ginger and lavender. I've used this one the most to try and soothe my poor aching muscles. It's hard to tell if it helps or whether it's just the hot water that makes me feel better but the experience is relaxing and makes me feel better. I think it would be a great one for someone who has overdone it at the gym  or feels tense.

Revive Morning - pink grapefruit, juniper berry and Rosemary. I can't say this made a huge difference to me feeling any more revived but then again I do have M.E. It's a lovely scent and feel luxurious.

Revive Evening - geranium, ylang ylang, patchouli and sandlewood. This is one that I personally don't have much use for so can't really comment. May be good before a night out or something like that? I'm not really sure what the difference between Revive Morning and Revive Evening are. They smell differently but surely if you want to be revived, it doesn't matter on the time of day? I'm guessing Revive Evening isn't quite as revive-y (technical term) or strong as the Morning one.

Support Breathe - pine, eucalyptus, tea tree and peppermint, perfect for if you are feeling anxious or have a cold. I used this a lot recently during a very anxious time and although it didn't cure my anxiety, it helped me to feel more relaxed for the duration of the bath and for a while after.

Support Lavender and Peppermint - AA say that the main benefits of this oil are that it soothes and cools the skin. This is the only oil I am yet to use but I imagine it would be great for sunburn and is relaxing and soothing all round. It smells like lavender and peppermint as you would expect!

Support Equilibrium - geranium, rose and frankinsence, not gonna lie, at first, I had no idea what "equilibrium" meant and had to ask my dad. This oil is designed to be to be emotionally balancing and uplifting.

So there we have it, all 9 oils! Aromatherapy Associates have since added an "Inner Strength" oil which I am yet to try. All oils have been used in the bath, not the shower, as I am extra cautious of slipping. I would recommend them to anyone, especailly spoonies, anxiety sufferers and anyone who struggles to sleep or relax. They make a great gift and I personally think they are worth the £33.

Have you tried any of these oils? If so, if love to know your thoughts.

Butter London - Teddy Girl

I have a guinea pig called Teddy so I think that is part of the reason I picked up this polish. Names play a huge part in nail polish buying for me!
Teddy Girl is a baby pink milky cream polish (more pink than Essie Fiji) and it kinda reminds me of a strawberry milkshake!
Pastel formulas are really hard to get right and I think Butter London have done pretty well on this one. The application wasn't the best and did require a bit more concentration than some polishes. The Butter London brushes are quite small and thin unlike a wide Essie brush and as you can see in the second picture, even after 3 coats, the polish was still a bit patchy especailly around the top of the nail which is a bit disappointing considering BL is sold for around £10 a bottle.
The wear time of Butter London polishes is amazing and you really can't fault it. They don't chip at all and would probably last a good week and a half on most people.

So, what do you think? Is Butter London worth the hefty price tag?

Essie Status Symbol

This polish was a birthday gift from my ah-may-zing friend Charlotte - she knows how much I love Essie!
Status Symbol is basically just the perfect pink. It is definitely not a blue toned pink and is warm without being orange or coral-y and is bright without being a neon.

The first coat went on quite sheer but after the second coat it was completely opaque and being an Essie polish, the wide brush made it a dream to apply. Status Symbol is also one of the glossiest Essie polishes I have. I have found that some of Essie's more pastel colours are less glossy than the darker or brighter shades. I've had it on my toes for two weeks without a top coat and it's still super shiny. I often find that some polishes are only glossy for 24 hours or they lose their shine after a shower or bath but this one doesn't and it has lasted really well.

Essie Turquoise and Caicos

Daylight

  Artificial light

Essie is one of my favourite nail varnish brands and although I'm slightly late to the party with this shade, I absolutely love it. I usually go for brighter turquoise-y shades and this one is a bit more muted. I love the brush on the Essie diffusion line polishes so the application was amazing if a little sheer at first. This is the perfect shade if you want something a little bright and summery but still want to look grown-up and sophiscated or don't think you can pull off a neon.

Ready for Red

Avon Gel Finish in the shade Firecracker (Photographs are without a topcoat)

There are no two ways about it, red nail varnish does not suit me, it just doesn't! I've always wanted to be one of those girls who can pull off red nail polish and look sophiscated and classy but it really does not suit me.
I can wear red lipstick but why not nail polish? It's one of life's many mysteries!

My initial reason for picking up this Avon Gel Finish Polish was to test out the formula of the range but a lot of the shades were similar to other polishes in my collection... I thought I'd be daring and go for red!

When applying the nail polish, i wanted to test out the shine most of all. It's a 'Gel' nail polish so you supposedly don't need a topcoat to make it glossy.

I was super impressed and loved the formula. At first it was really glossy but then after about 12 hours the shine seems to fade on me. I always use a top coat with the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes and I would suggest you do with these ones too.

Overall, I'd definitely by more from the range as I do like the formula, I'm interested in trying out the yellow as yellow nail polishes are notoriously streaky and hard to apply so maybe the gel formula will help with that.

Revolution Blush Haul

I've always wanted to try a baked blush and all of the Revolution ones look beautiful online. It was so hard to chose and I could easily of bought them all but I finally narrowed them down to two, Bang Bang You're Dead and Loved Me The Best.

Bang Bang You're Dead is a gorgeous pink with darker pinky-red veining. It leaves a pretty pink sheen on the cheeks and is a great everyday colour.

Loved Me The Best is darker but when blended out can look natural on the cheeks too. It's a duskier darker pink with more of a red-orange-coral tone - kind of hard to explain!

Overall, these look great and they're super pretty! I love the finish of them and as they are 'baked' they look sheeny/glowy and natural on the cheeks which is a great compromise between wearing a shimmering blush and a matte one.

Soap and Glory - Beauty Sleep Accelerator

A lot of night creams or moisture masks are quite expensive and there aren't a lot if options from the cheaper brands so when I found out that Soap and Glory had an offering, I thought I'd give it a go!

This can be found in Boots for £13 but 90% of the time, Soap and Glory is on 3 for 2!

This cream smells AMAZING! Fruity, like peaches (which would make sense as it's got peach in it!) and is a slightly peachy tone!

The moisturiser sinks in super quick to your skin and doesn't leave it feeling super greasy or oily even though the cream is super thick.

I'd say this product would suit more normal/oily skin girls as I don't think it's moisturising enough for someone with super dry skin.

The only thing I was a bit disappointed about is the size of the pot. You get 45 ml for £13 which to me is quite expensive really! Although if you wanted to take it on a plane with you, it would be the perfect size!

Overall I definitely like this cream, it makes my skin feel really nice and plump and hydrated. I'd 100% buy it again but maybe to use in the warmer months as I think I need something more heavy duty during the winter.
